Johanna Chase's focus is
on functional ceramics. Her inspiration is the natural and spontaneous
energy of the figure: human, plant and animal. She tries to
capture the personality of a form, the attitude in a gesture,
the grace - or lack of- in a movement. These forms have overlapping
layers of suggestion and animation. They are designed to move,
breath and dance with each other while asking to be handled
and used.
The glazes are non-toxic, microwave and dishwasher safe. However, Johanna recommends handwashing for the more delicate pieces. They should not be used in the oven or stovetop.
